Tripedal Crow
The culture brand tripedal crow
The tripedal crow of Mt. Geumosan is Gumi's representative landmark, and is located at the heart of the city. History says that the Buddhist priest, Adohwasang, who spread Buddhism to Silla for the first time, was passing by Mt. Geumosan, then known as Mt. Daebonsan, and saw a golden bird flying in the sunset dusk. He called the mountain Geumosan (literally meaning the golden crow mountain). That is why the tripedal crow, which is said to live in the sun, is an imaginary bird. Yet, it was secularized in ancient Asian nations, and was revived as Gumi's historical and cultural brand.
